FAQ

What surfaces does it stick to?

Anything ferrous: toolboxes, mill and drill press tables, steel shelving, workbench legs, appliances, race trailer walls. Three flush magnets on perpendicular faces mean it holds on a floor or either of two walls.

Is a 3D printed level actually accurate?

The reading comes from a purchased graduated acrylic vial, not from the print. The printed block only carries it, and the vial pocket floor prints flat on a calibrated Bambu Lab H2D. Vial accuracy is the vial's spec, marked in 2°, 4°, and 6° rings.

What is the gauge on the side for?

One face carries a 20.00 mm boss with a 10.00 mm pocket in its center. Caliper the boss for external dimensional error and the pocket for internal error, of this block or as a reference for checking your own printer's calibration.

Can I read the level when it is stuck to a wall?

No. A circular bubble level only reads facing up. The side magnets are for mounting and storage, not side reading.

Can I use it as a 3D scanning reference?

Yes. Place it in the scene while scanning: the 40.00 mm block widths and the 20.00 mm gauge boss give the scan known dimensions for scale calibration and accuracy checks, the engraved X, Y, and Z face letters give it a known orientation, and the magnets hold it to any steel part of the setup.
