Why would I block brake cooling?
Brakes have a working temperature range, and on a cold or wet day a duct sized for a hot dry session can keep them below it. Blocking the duct lets the brakes come up to temperature instead of bleeding heat away. These are for conditions where you have decided the brakes are running too cool, with your own brake temperature data in hand.
Can I bed new pads with the blockers on?
Do not bed new pads on track at all, blockers or not. I tried it, first time out on a fresh set, and it glazed the pads. Bed them properly on the street first, and only then think about managing temperature with blockers.
Is this safe for a hot day?
Use your judgement and your own brake temperature data. These are for conditions where you have decided the brakes are running too cool. Do not fit them and forget them on a hot dry track day.
